The Ballymena Observer of 8th June 1917 reported: Rifleman James King - Mrs. Maggie King, Springwell Street, Ballymena, has been informed that her husband Rfn. James King, Royal Irish Rifles, who was reported missing on July 1 has now been returned killed on that date. Prior to joining the army he was an employee of Mr. Bernard O’Neill, boot and shoe manufacturer, Mill Street, Ballymena.
